Woman’s dismembered torso found in basket in Brooklyn: NYPD

CYPRESS HILLS, Brooklyn (PIX11) – Police found a woman’s dismembered torso in a shopping cart on a Brooklyn street early Thursday, officials said.

The unidentified woman’s torso was inside a large bag in the basket near at the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and Atlantic Avenue, police said. Officers had been called to investigate possible body parts found around 1.45am

Daquawn, who gave only his first name, said he had visited family in the neighborhood frequently for 15 years, and could not believe the news.

“It’s a crazy time we live in,” he said.

Police have not yet identified the woman. The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of his death.

The NYPD has yet to release information on a suspect.
