This smart shopping cart acts as your shopping assistant, navigating the store and eliminating long queues for you!
Have you ever found yourself stuck in a supermarket queue and eagerly watching the person or people in front of you unload their carts, wondering how much faster you could be if you were them? Waiting in a queue is my nemesis. It can be downright boring and frustrating at times, especially when there’s a little bottleneck at the checkout. Undoubtedly, there is a lot of room for improvement in shopping malls to speed up the process and make it a pleasant experience for users. The technology of the current era at our disposal bears witness to this.
Three budding designers, Park Chan Woo, Choi Chan Young and Lee Eun Ji, all from Seoul, Korea, came up with the idea of a smart marketplace that could redefine shopping in major markets and malls around the world. . They call it the Mobi smart shopping cart designed with all the difficult situations in mind that one comes across when they have added things to the cart and they just want to leave the shopping mall, the as quickly as possible. The automated Mobi shopping cart follows you everywhere once you scan it with a dedicated app on your phone – ready to give your recommendations via the navigation system having a map, as to which direction to take if you want to purchase a particular item. There is also the option to upload your shopping list in advance and Mobi will give you the best possible guidance to get things done in the shortest possible time.
You only have to pick up all the necessary things and put them in the shopping cart – the items will be automatically added to the interface and payment can be made in the shopping cart interface itself. No need to queue, everything is automated for the convenience of the user. Once your shopping spree is over, Mobi automatically returns to its charging station where 16 Mobi can be refilled simultaneously. The concept is somewhat similar to the Amazon Dash Cart which is going to be tested in the Amazon grocery store in Woodland Hills, California. What sets Mobi apart from Dash Cart is its self-actuating feature with an eye-catching design and the more forward-looking approach with all modern sensors (to detect items put in the cart) built into the cart itself.
