The Epic Games Store finally has a shopping cart function

Just over three years after its launch, the Epic Games Store finally has the one feature almost every online marketplace needs. Players who decide to buy more than one game will no longer have to purchase them separately and, starting today, can now put them in a basket. The addition of a basket has been jokingly celebrated by Epic Games Founder and CEO Tim Sweeney on Twitter.

It’s unclear why Epic Games, which in addition to running its own online gaming marketplace is also the publisher and developer behind Fortnite, took so long to add such a simple function to the Epic Games Store. However, adding an online shopping cart should make a key difference to the quality of life for customers when purchasing games in-store.

Epic Games Store users weren’t the only ones who wanted a cart to come to the Epic Games Store. The little feature was on Sweeney’s wishlist as well. In one tweet from last june, the CEO said, “So like, Epic Games Store doesn’t have a shopping cart. There should be a shopping cart. Someday it will have a shopping cart. But in the meantime, we don’t need to publish graphic brochures denouncing the evils of shopping carts. It’s absurd. “

Other than the final addition of a cart to the Epic Games Store, things have been pretty busy at Epic Games. The company recently acquired Harmonix, the studio behind Rock Band and Dj hero, and is currently working to maintain its top spot in the metaverse race.
