Pulmuone opens vegan restaurant in major shopping mall in southern Seoul

Pulmuone said in a statement on May 23 that the company opened the vegan restaurant called “Plantude” at COEX Mall in southern Seoul. The 47-seat store offers 13 different vegan menus, including the plant-based Bulgogi Deopbap, a bowl of rice topped with Korean-style barbecued marinated beef. The marinated beef barbecue is made from alternative meats. The restaurant has been authorized by the Korean Vegan Assessment and Certification Agency, a private vegan food standards agency that issues certificates for verified plant-based products.

In December 2021, Pulmuone partnered with the South Korean office of International Flavors & Fragrances, a US-based food and beverage ingredient developer, to ensure competitiveness in the global meat-origin market. vegetable. According to global market research firm Statista, the global plant-based meat market reached approximately $6.67 billion in 2020. The United States was the largest vegan meat market in the world with a size total market value of approximately $1.4 billion.
