Peterbrough man assaults shop worker with shopping cart, threatens others: police – Peterborough

A Peterborough man is facing assault charges after an incident at a Peterborough business on Wednesday morning.

According to the Peterborough Police Department, at around 9.15am officers responded to reports of an assault on a shop worker at a business on Lansdowne Street West.

Police said the man attempted to take items from the store and became enraged when confronted by store workers. The suspect verbally threatened the employees, then pushed a shopping cart towards an employee.

A 41-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, assault, theft under $5,000, failing to leave the premises when ordered and three counts of having made threats of death or bodily harm.

He was released on bail and is due to appear in court in Peterborough on May 17, police said on Thursday.
