Jim Boeheim’s wife robbed at gunpoint in mall
The Syracuse Orange community received some chilling news on Tuesday. The wife of Orange head coach Jim Boeheim was robbed at gunpoint from a shopping mall on Tuesday, as reported by Sports Illustrated.
Juli Boeheim, the wife of Syracuse men’s basketball coach Jim Boeheim, was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday in the parking lot of Destiny USA, a shopping mall, in Syracuse, according to Syracuse.com.
Juli Boeheim, wife of Jim Boeheim, was at a Destiny USA mall in Syracuse, New York at 2:08 p.m. when a suspect struck up a conversation with her while she was sitting in his car.
Suddenly, the man pointed a gun at Boeheim as he reached for her purse. The man got into a car with two other people and drove off with Boeheim’s handbag. Fortunately, the Syracuse Orange head coach’s wife was not injured in the robbery.
Boeheim’s wife is a co-founder of a foundation that helps children fight cancer in the New York area with the Orange head coach. Boeheim’s two sons, Buddy and Jimmy, play for Orange.
The Syracuse Police Department is still looking for the suspect. Although it was a chilling incident, the Orange community can be grateful that Juli Boeheim was not injured in the flight.
