Amanda Ross hosts the outdoor shopping market in the Hamptons

It may be a while before we can browse our favorite shops worry-free, but for those in the Hamptons this Wednesday and Thursday, ARossGirl stylist and retailer Amanda Ross has come up with a charming alternative.

Inspired by the outdoor markets of Provence (remember?), She fills four spacious tents on the east lawn of the Southampton Arts Center with a selection of clothing, jewelry, accessories, housewares and flowers, and of course masks .

Each tent is dressed in fabrics by interior designer Muriel Brandolini and the products will be presented on different themes: pink and “patrician” green, red, white and “preppy” blue and “bohemian” flowers. Ross, who worked as a magazine editor for years, describes himself as a “brick and mortar” type, which is undoubtedly a challenge in today’s pandemic environment. She was looking for a safe environment to responsibly bring together the people and retailers she loves.

“Shopping is a way to connect with others,” says Ross. “Today that means bringing the equivalent of the department store to the outdoors from a carefully curated vantage point that offers depth, adventure and that little extra chic.”

En Plein Air will take place on the East Lawn of the Southampton Arts Center on July 29 and 30, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The tents, located between a Roman gallery and a Hauser & Wirth installation, will include exclusive collections designed by selected brands such as ARossGirl, Alicia Adams Alpaca, Carolina Irving & Daughters, Konstantin Kakanias, Muriel Brandolini, Dovima Paris, By Tatoufa and Marie -Hélène de Taillac, among others.

“We want to support independent designers in these complex times and create something happy, community-centric,” says Ross. Masks and safe social distancing will be enforced. En Plein Air is open from July 29 to 30, Wednesday and Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

For those who cannot attend, there are also many items available virtually, we have selected a few below.
